China Wholesale Suppliers: How to Buy Wholesale From China Safely
Buying wholesale from China can save you a lot of money. It can also cost you everything if you pick the wrong supplier. This guide shows you how to find real China wholesale suppliers, how to tell a real factory from a fake one, and how to buy wholesale goods from China without getting scammed.
We work with Chinese suppliers from Beijing, so this is advice from the inside. We will tell you what works and what does not.
What is a China wholesale supplier?
A wholesale supplier sells products in large amounts at a lower price than a shop. In China you will meet three types of seller, and they are not the same:
- Factory. They make the product. The price is usually the lowest, but they often want a big order.
- Trading company. They buy from factories and sell to you. Prices are higher, but the order can be smaller and they can mix products.
- Wholesale distributor or market seller. They hold stock and sell it right away. Good for small orders and fast delivery.
None of these is bad. The problem starts when a trading company says it is a factory, or when the company is not real at all.
Where to find China wholesale suppliers
These are the places buyers use most. Each one has a different risk.
- Alibaba. The biggest website for buyers abroad. Easy to use, but anyone can open a shop, so you must check the seller.
- Made-in-China.com. Another large B2B website with many factories. The same rule applies: check before you pay.
- 1688.com. A Chinese-language website with local prices. It is cheaper, but you need Chinese, a Chinese payment method and a way to ship abroad. Most foreign buyers need a helper for this.
- Wholesale markets. Cities such as Yiwu (small goods), Guangzhou (clothing and bags) and Shenzhen (electronics) have huge markets. You can see the goods, but you need to be there.
- Trade fairs. Events such as the Canton Fair in Guangzhou let you meet many factories in a few days.
How to buy wholesale from China, step by step
- Step 1. Decide exactly what you want. Product, material, size, colour, amount, and the price you can pay. Vague requests get vague quotes.
- Step 2. Ask three to five suppliers for a quote. Do not choose the first one. Compare price, minimum order and delivery time.
- Step 3. Order a sample. Do not place a large order without holding the product in your hand, or at least seeing it checked.
- Step 4. Check the supplier. Ask for the business licence, the real address and a live video call. Make sure the company name on the licence is the name you will pay.
- Step 5. Negotiate. Ask about the minimum order, the price for different amounts, and who pays for shipping. In China, the first price is a starting point.
- Step 6. Sign a written contract. It should list the product, the amount, the price, the delivery date and what happens if the goods are wrong.
- Step 7. Pay safely. Pay to a company account that matches the contract. Avoid paying the full amount before you have seen the goods.
- Step 8. Inspect before shipping. Check quality and quantity before the goods leave the factory, not after they arrive at your door.
Red flags of a fake wholesaler
- The price is much lower than every other seller.
- They ask you to pay to a personal bank account or to a different company name.
- They refuse a video call or a factory visit.
- The photos look copied, or the same photos appear on other shops.
- They say they are a factory but sell many unrelated products.
- They push you to pay today.

Common questions
What is the minimum order for China wholesale suppliers?
It depends on the product and the seller. Factories often ask for a higher minimum, called the MOQ. Trading companies and markets usually accept smaller orders. Always ask, and ask if the minimum can be lower for your first order.
Is it cheaper to buy wholesale directly from China?
Often yes, but not always. Shipping, taxes and checking costs must be added. Compare the full cost to your door, not only the price on the website.
Can you find wholesale suppliers for me?
Yes. Tell us the product and the amount, and we will find and check suppliers, negotiate the price and inspect the goods. Message us on WhatsApp to start.
